       Just after an inkcake 
has been  used,   it is not 
convenient  to  put it away 
in its case or place it on 
a  table  while  still wet.  
It is put down on an inkcake 
rest instead to avoid making 
the table dirty.  This piece 
has  been  carved in ivory 
with   imitation   antique
decoration  of  the  utmost
daintiness  and  elegance.
